Treasure of Khan – Written by Clive and Dirk Cussler, read by Scott Brick (18 hrs, Unabridged, avalible through Audio Adventures)

If you haven’t listened to any of the Dirk Pitt series yet, you should. Though they share some of the same characters, each one is a stand alone adventure, and they don’t have to be enjoyed in order. If you like Indiana Jones style adventures with plenty of action, archeology, and a little politics, these books will keep you rolling.

Dirk Pitt is the head of NUMA, the National Underwater and Marine Agency. While on a current surveying job on Lake Baikal in Siberia he is almost killed while saving another survey team from a freak wave. The wave turns out to only be the tip of the tsunami of sabotage and intrigue that leads Dirk on the trail of a power hungry Mongolian oil mogul bent on world domination and determine to use the fabled treasure of his ancestor Genghis Kahn to finance his scheme – unless Dirk and his friends can solve the mystery and get to the treasure first.

With fast paced action that keeps you engaged, exotic locations, ancient secrets, unexpected plot twists and a reader who nails the foreign accents, this one is sure to keep you entertained.

I give it 4 stars out of 5.
