Some verses showing that Christians can live a moral life

Christians are set free from sin and are slaves to God

And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.  John 8:32

But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.  Romans 6:22

Christians are conformed to God’s image, and God is moral.

For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. Romans 8:29

And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly. 1 Corinthians 15:49

Christians have taken off the old sinful self and put on the new moral self

Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;  And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him: Colossians 3:9-10

 That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.  Ephesians 4:22-24

God’s grace enables Christians not to sin

For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; Titus 2:11-12

For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace. Romans 6:14

God’s Holy Spirit lives inside Christians, so they can choose not to sin

Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.  1 John 3:9

We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.  1 John 5:18

You, however, are controlled not by the sinful nature but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ. Romans 8:9 NIV

So I say, live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature. Galatians 5:16 NIV

Christians once lived in sin, but they are now set apart from sin (sanctified.)

Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.  1 Corinthians 6:9-11

You used to walk in these ways, in the life you once lived.  Colossians 3:7 NIV

Every Temptation can be overcome through God

There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it..  1 Corinthians 10:13

Christians are saved from following the evils of the world

Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father:  Galatians 1:4

But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world. Galatians 6:14

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.  Romans 12:2

God works in Christians to enable them to do good works

For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them. Ephesians 2:10

For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure. Philippians 2:13

Christians are dead to sin

For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God.  Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof. Romans 6:10-12

And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. Galatians 5:24

Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry: Colossians 3:5

Christians can love because God first loved them

We love him, because he first loved us. 1 John 4:19

We can be moral in this world not just the next one

Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world. 1 John 4:17
