Daytona 500 Lineup – Start time – Weather Forecast

The 51st annual Daytona 500 is scheduled to start off at 3:30 pm Eastern today, and, according to raceweather.net, the patch of rain moving into the area should clear out well before the beginning of the race. For the uninitiated, the Daytona 500 is a 500 mile Nascar Sprint Cup race that consists of 200 laps around the Daytona International Speedway in Daytona, Beach. The race offers the larges financial reward and is considered to be the biggest race of the year for many Nascar fans.

The Daytona 500 is littered with the best race drivers on earth. Martin Truex Jr is in pole (first) position in the lineup. Some of the best known drivers include Jeff Gordon, Rick Hendrick, Dale Earnhardt Jr, and Mark Martin.  New to Daytona is Marcus Ambrose, the first Australian ever to compete in the race.
