Halloween Events In New York City 2009-The Greenwich Village Halloween Parade

This iconic Halloween parade is as much a part of New York City’s history as the Empire State Building. Marking its 36th year, The Village Halloween Parade will march up 6th Avenue from Spring Street to 21st Street starting at 7pm on Halloween night. As many as 1-2 million people attend the Village Halloween Parade every year, so be smart and take mass transit to this event.

When the Village Halloween Parade wraps up, head over to East 11th Street and Webster Hall in the East Village for The Webster Hell Halloween Party. Doors open at 8pm and tickets are $20. A cash prize of $5000 is given for best costume!

Halloween Events In New York City 2009-Procession of the Ghouls at The Cathedral Church of St John The Divine

A spooky yet spiritual experience, The Procession of the Ghouls at St John The Divine begins with a viewing of the silent film Nosferatu accompanied by church organ music. After the film, the ‘ghouls’ march down the isles in surreal costumes for some mischief with the audience. This event takes place October 30th and has 7pm and 10pm showings. The Cathedral is located on 112st Street and Amsterdam Avenue. Tickets are $20.

Halloween Events In New York City 2009-Blood Manor Haunted House

Billing itself as New York City’s premiere haunted attraction, the horror of Blood Manor begins October 2nd and runs on weekends and Halloween week through November 7th. Prepare to confront your fears as this year’s Blood Manor Haunted House adds new attractions called Skull Alley and Thunderdome. Blood Manor is located on 27th Street between 10th and 11th Avenues. Tickets are $30 at the door or $28 when bought online. *Warning: Not recommended for children under 14.

Halloween Events In New York City 2009-Nightmare: Vampires

The name of this event is enough to send chills down your spine. Nightmare is a classic walk through haunted house with a vampire theme for 2009. Located at the NOHO Event Center at 623 Broadway and Houston, Nightmare runs on select days from September 25 to November 7th. Tickets are $30 in advance and $36 at the door. *Warning: children under 7 will not be permitted and children under 12 will not be permitted without a parent.
