Speed Not Power is Manny Pacquiao’s Winning Weapon Against Cotto

Barely three weeks before the much-talked about Pacquiao-Cotto match at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, boxing fans believe that Manny Pacquiao will win the fight because of his superior speed. Manny Pacquiao and Miguel Cotto will climb the ring of the MGM Grand Garden Arena on November 14, each promising to win in the much awaited boxing fight of the year. But boxing experts predict that the boxer who is speedier and more powerful will win the fight. In the case of these two popular boxers, Manny Pacquaio may have the edge over Miguel Cotto in terms of power and speed. It is probably true that Cotto is a powerful puncher but so is Pacquaio. But Pacquiao’s coach and trainer, Freddie Roach predicts that speed and not power will determine the winner of the Pacquiao-Cotto match and certainly Pacquiao is speedier than his Puerto Rican opponent. abs-cbn news reports
>Famed boxing coach Freddie Roach stressed that speed and not power will determine the outcome of the “Firepower” match up between Filipino champ Manny Pacquiao and Puerto Rico’s Miguel Cotto. >
Pacquiao matches his speed and deceptive moves against the superior size and power of Cotto in their ‘Firepower’ match. Cotto has the power while Pacquiao has the speed. Roach believes that speed will win in this particular match. “When he fights a south paw he turns left handed a lot more and I expect him to do that with Pacquiao. He is naturally left-handed, clever, and he is dangerous because of that. Our job is to take that away from him,” he said. Roach added that Pacquiao will have to rattle Cotto’s confidence early in the fight in able to break down the reigning World Boxing Organization welterweight champ. Pacquiao is in his last leg of training in the Philippines and his team is moving to Los Angeles this Saturday to continue his tarining at the Wild Card Gym of Freddie Roach in California.
