Stars Who Hated Working Together

We all have a coworker we don’t like, right? Maybe because they steal your lunch, don’t shower, or take your parking spot. Well, the same happens in Hollywood, only with more glamour. There have been many celebs who just couldn’t stand each other when working on the same project, to the point where they refused to shoot scenes together. Here, we look at some of the most memorable on-set feuds.

18. Robert Downey Jr. vs. Terrence Howard

According to Terrence Howard, when filming Iron Man with Downey Jr., he was originally cast to play in all three movies of the series. However, after some time, the studio told him that they would only pay him one eigth of what they originally agreed on because they didn’t need him for the next movies. Howard quickly put the blame on Downey Jr. Allegedly, he called Robert to talk about it, but he didn’t call him back for three months.

17. Vin Diesel vs. The Rock

Perhaps you haven’t noticed, but Dwayne Johnson and Vin Diesel haven’t shot any scenes together on The Fast and the Furious for a loooong time. That is because they simply cannot stand each other. Apparently, Diesel got very upset when The Rock said on social media that he loved his female co-stars, but with his male co-stars the situation was very different. It all went downhill from there, and they hate each other to the point were they shoot all their scenes separately, and the editors make it seem as they’re in the same room.

Next, two celebs who play best friends on camera are actually worst enemies.

16. Julianna Margulies vs. Archie Panjabi

Although their characters in The Good Wife were very close friends, these two had an ongoing feud for years. The pair in fact didn’t film a single scene together for over 50 episodes, and communication between the characters was mostly done by phone. Panjabi eventually left the show because of the tension that had built up between them. However, their last episode together actually featured both characters on the same scene, but the actresses filmed it separately, and editors had to stitch them together with CGI.

On the next slide, we look at the bonkers story about what happened on the set of Blade.

15. Wesley Snipes vs. Ryan Reynolds

Blade Trinity was a major flop, but the stars of the movie do not blame it on the director, but on Wesley Snipes, who apparently drove everyone crazy during the filming of the movie. Allegedly, Snipes hated Ryan Reynolds and would refuse to even call him by his name, and referred to him as “that cracker”. Reynolds took it with a grain of salt, but he emphatically stated that he would not work with ever him again.

And Reynolds wasn’t the only star who had to deal with Snipes’ erratic behavior. Find out who else had a feud with him on the next page.

14. Wesley Snipes vs. Patton Oswalt

Perhaps we should change the title to “Wesley Snipes vs. literally everyone”. When describing his experience working with Snipes, Oswalt commented that Snipes “wouldn’t come out of his trailer, and he would smoke weed all day.” Not only that, but he “tried to strangle the director” at one point, and “would only communicate with the director through Post-It notes.” Guess that explains why there were no more Blade movies!

When Roberts and Nolte were filming I Love Trouble, the pair couldn’t get along, and the lack of chemistry was very clear in the movie. Roberts actually told the New York Times that Nolte was “disgusting”, to which he shot back saying “everyone knows she isn’t a nice person”. Guess they really loved trouble.

According to an anonymous source, Emma Watson was outraged by Channing Tatum’s breakdancing in a thong in one of the scenes they were supposed to do together. Apparently, Watson wasn’t aware that the scene was supposed to be that raunchy, and stormed out of the set and refused to continue filming.

When filming 1995’s Heat, Val Kilmer and Tom Sizemore had nothing but good things to say about each other. However, things took a turn when they reunited on the set of Red Planet. Apparently, Kimer got really upset upon learning that the production paid to have Sizemore’s exercise equipment shipped to Australia. The fight ended with Tom actually throwing a 50lbs weight at Kilmer (he missed though).  Fortunately, the actors made up in 2014.

Filming the very successful Some Like it Hot was no easy task for Monroe and Curtis. Reportedly, Monroe was notorious for initiating conflict on set, and Curtis couldn’t stand her erratic behavior. After having to re-film a kissing scene with Marilyn, Curtis expressed that it was like kissing Hitler. We can only imagine how much he disliked her.

James Franco took method acting too far when preparing for his role in Annapolis. In the movie, Gibson’s and Franco’s characters fight in a boxing tournament, for which Franco took boxing lessons. When rehearsing the scene, Franco actually punched Gibson really hard, even after he told him to stop. Franco apologized, but Gibson said he would never ever work with him again.

8. Kevin Smith vs. Bruce Willis

Although Smith and Willis got along just fine when filming Live Free or Die Hard, their relationship went downhill on the set of Cop Out, in which Willis starred and Smith directed. When describing his experience with Willis, Smith said he wanted to kill himself during filming because he was having such a hard time with Willis. He even stated that Willis “turned out to be the unhappiest, most bitter, and meanest emo-b*tch I’ve ever met at any job I’ve held down. And mind you, I’ve worked at Domino’s Pizza.” Ouch.

Next up, two Star Trek stars who absolutely hated working together.

Shatner and Takei‘s clash lasted for a decade while filming the original Star Trek series, and it all allegedly began because of close-ups. Over their years, their feud just got worse and worse. According to Takei, Shatner’s ego grew bigger and bigger as the years went by, to which Shatner responded saying Takei was mentally ill. But it didn’t stop there. Takei said that, when their co-star James Doohan had to leave the show due to his illness, Shatner refused to participate in his last-ever convention appearance, saying he didn’t want to participate in that “Alzheimer’s crap”. Classy!

6. Jim Carrey vs. Tommy Lee Jones

When filming Batman Forever, Tommy Lee Jones couldn’t stand being in the same room with Jim Carrey. Apparently, Jones didn’t take Carrey seriously because he was a comedy actor. The night before filming, Carrey approached Jones at a restaurant to say hello, and Jones was far from nice. He told him “I hate you. I really don’t like you. I cannot sanction your buffoonery”. According to the director, Jones was jealous of Carrey’s success, which kinda explains it.

This feud actually dates back several years, but it wasn’t until 2006 that Stallone publicly spoke about it. He explained that Gere had been cast as the leading man in The Lords of Flatbush but, since he and Stallone couldn’t get along, Gere was replaced by Perry King. Apparently, Gere is still bitter about it. Who’d have though!

4. Will Smith vs. Janet Hubert

Photo: Courtesy of Looper

Have you noticed that the actress who played Aunt Vivian in The Fresh Prince of Bel Air was replaced halfway through the series? That’s because Janet Hubert couldn’t stand Will Smith nor her other young co-stars. According to Hubert, Smith and the others were very mean to her. Smith quickly denied her allegations and said that she had a bad attitude overall. When asked if she would participate in a reunion, Hubert said  “there will never be a reunion … as I will never do anything with an a**hole like Will Smith”. Yikes.

3. Bette Davis vs. Jane Crawford

This feud is one of the most memorable rivalries of all time. So memorable, that a whole TV series was based on it. Joan Crawford and Bette Davis began their clash in the 1930s. Davis fell in love with her co-star Franchot Tone, who soon after married Crawford. Davis was very bitter about it, and stated that Crawford “slept with every male star at MGM except Lassie”. BURN.

30 years later, the pair co-starred in Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?, which only added more fuel to the fire. Davis was nominated for an Oscar for her role, which infuriated Crawford, and she tried to steal her thunder during the award ceremony. The two never managed to make up.

Shannen Doherty is notorious for her bad attitude with her female co-stars. First, she had a very famous feud with her Beverly Hills 90210 castmate Jenni Garth. Her attitude was so bad, she was removed from the show. A few years later, when starring in Charmed, Shannen had a real beef with Alyssa Milano. Doherty’s character was eventually killed off the show.

Did you know two Game of Thrones characters cannot be in the same room together?

1. Lena Headey vs. Jerome

Although Game of Thrones has many characters and even more different plot lines, most of the characters have shared scenes and storylines together. But, have you ever noticed that Lena Headey and Jerome Flynn‘s characters never ever had a scene together except for a very brief scene on season 9? The reason is that Headey and Flynn used to date way back in 2002, and went through a very ugly breakup. The pair made it very clear to the show’s producers that they will not, under any circumstances, be in the same room at the same time. They aren’t on speaking terms even though it’s been 16 years since their split.
