HEY, WHAT’S THAT?
This was the first time Gurutek was witnessing something like this. He had been raising fishes for quite some time and had a decent amount of knowledge about aquatic life, but he had no idea how his coral was disappearing from his tank overnight.
MARINE LIFE ENTHUSIAST
YouTube user Gurutek was just used to the traditional type of fish. He had a huge tank on a table where folks usually put a 50″ inch flatscreen, so you could say that he liked fishes, but he was never into anything exotic. But, he had no idea what was he was raising along with his fish.
WHERE’S THE CORAL?
Gurutek had a ton of corals in the tank to keep his fishes entertained. He used to make sure that the water was perfect for the fishes. At first he thought that he was imagining his corals just disappearing. But, he understood that there was something happening.
TAKING A CLOSER LOOK
He started to add more and more corals to his tank. He just thought that it was a one time thing, but turns out, it wasn’t. He decided to do some research on predatory marine species and got a hint of what’s happening.
Gurutek read online that a majority of the aquatic predators only strike during night time. So, every night, he sat in the dark and stared at the tank to find some answers. A few nights later, he saw something.
WHAT ARE YOU?
He couldn’t get a clear sight of what he was seeing so he decided to turn the light on, but as soon as he did that, the creature hid himself. The creature was so good at hiding that Gurutek was only able to catch glimpses of him three times over a whole year.
FINDING THE CULPRIT
It was now time to end this cat and mouse story once and for all. Gurutek started to take his aquarium apart. He was relocating every stone and every fish to a new area. Once he was done, there was only dead coral and sand there. Then, he saw the creature.
Meet the Sea Monster
Gurutek couldn’t believe it. This centipede type creature just wiggled out of the sand. It was headless and Gurutek tried to catch him with tongs. But, his tail just snapped off but the creature kept walking nonetheless.
FINALLY FINDING OUT THE TRUTH
The creature was called a Sand Striker or a Bobbitt Worm. The creature lives on the bottom of the ocean and tends to ambush fishes and coral alike. Nothing in his tank was strong enough to fight this monster. And, there’s no idea how it ended up in Gurutek’s tank.
RELOCATING THE WORM
It was time for this worm to move out of the premises. He talked to a marine fish keeper that was happy to take the worm off of Gurutek’s hand and put it somewhere else. Gurutek put his experience on his channel and garnered millions of views for it. The videos are now removed from his channel.
