Them Crooked Vultures is a new super group. The band consists of members from groups from the 70’s, 90’s and today. The band features Dave Grohl, of the Foo Fighters, playing drums instead of vocals and guitar. Dave Grohl last played drums for the group Nirvana. Them Crooked Vultures also includes John Paul Jones, the legendary bassist from Led Zeppelin. John Paul Jones is easily in his biggest band since Led Zeppelin. Vocals and guitars for Them Crooked Vultures is handled by Josh Homme of Queens of the Stone Age.

The trio released their self titled debut album on November 17, 2009. The album was produced by the band, which is not a bad thing considering John Paul Jones production and session resume. The new album is comprised of thirteen new songs.  plays guitars and provides the vocals for this new power trio. The CD was produced by the band and consists of thirteen new and original songs. During their fall tour the band only played their music. Fans looking for Led Zeppelin, Nirvana, Foo Fighters or Queens of the Sone Age might have come away dissapointed. The new album is nono apologetic hard rock and from the reviews few fans have been dissapointed.

There may not be plans for the Foo Fighters or the Queens of the Stone Age to break up. However, Them Crooked Vultures looks to be more than a one album side project. NME is reporting Them Crooked Vultures have plans to work on a second album.
