#25. Robin Wright And Dylan Penn
After her outstanding performance in NBC Daytime soap opera Santa Barbara, Robin Wright has been winning us over. You probably know her from her role in House of Cards, where she plays Claire Underwood, the wife of the protagonist. Her fierce gaze and her fashion style have clearly passed on to her daughter, Dylan Penn, who surely inherited her mother’s beautiful features. Dylan’s father is none other than Sean Penn, also an actor and filmmaker, winner of two Academy Awards.
While Dylan started out being as ordinary as you and me delivering pizzas and working as a waitress, she quickly took on her mother’s footsteps as a celebrity when she appeared in modeling billboards for Gap in 2013 and then in GQ magazine in 2013. Her stunning looks also led her to start an acting career. In 2015 she appeared in Condemned, a horror film directed by Eli Morgan Gesner. Dylan plays the role of a band member’s girlfriend that lives in a rundown building.
#24. Blythe Danner and Gwyneth Paltrow
These two blonde green-eyed icons have been gracing the screens of Hollywood for decades. Blythe Danner is a Tony-winner actress while Gwyneth Paltrow is an Oscar-winning actress. We can easily tell that Blythe’s acting talents were a great influencer for a young Gwyneth, who grew up in a family with a strong presence in the film industry. Her father was Bruce Paltrow, an American television film producer, and director! Some might say she was destined to be an icon in the Hollywood screens.
These two goddesses have even shared the screen in the miniseries Cruel Doubt and in the 2003 film Sylvia, where they actually play the role of mother and daughter. While Gwyneth has won countless awards including an Academy Award, a Primetime Emmy Award and a Golden Globe Award, and her films have grossed a total of $3.2 billion at the U.S. box office, it is said that she stays close to her roots and remains humble. We need more of these actresses!
#23. Kim Basinger and Ireland Basinger-Baldwin
It’s not hard to tell why these two have made it to the list. At first glance, it might be a little hard to tell that they are actually mother and daughter! Ireland is the daughter of Kim and renowned actor Alec Baldwin, maybe you know him from numerous films, such as Along Came Polly, The Departed and It’s Complicated, with Meryl Streep. Now back to these ladies: Kim Basinger is an actress, singer and also former model. Meanwhile, her daughter is both an actress as well as a model. With their gene pool, it’s no surprise Kim and Ireland made it to the modeling world!
Well, not everything is sunshine and rainbows. It wasn’t until the past few years that Ireland had to endure the bitter custody battle between her now divorced celebrity parents. She has been focusing more on her modeling career, in 2017 she appeared in campaigns for True Religion Jeans and Guess. Not only is she a stunning model but she also happens to be an animal activist. In 2018, she posed naked for PETA in an ad that read “I’d Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur”. Definitely following her mother’s footsteps since Kim did the same campaign 24 years ago!
#22. Jerry Hall and Georgia May Jagger
If Kim and Ireland resembled each other like sisters, then Jerry and Georgia are leaving us more perplexed at their similarity! These drop-dead divas are icons in the fashion and modeling world. Jerry Hall had already been in 40 magazine covers by 1977, while Georgia May Jagger, daughter of The Rolling Stones singer Mick Jagger, modeled for Chanel, Versace and Miu Miu. This young celebrity was also named Model of the Year at the Fashion Awards when she was just 17 years old!
With her iconic tooth gap, Georgia May Jagger is the combination of her mother’s trendsetting nature and her father’s daring personality. The blonde not only models but also designs! Yes, while she is just in her twenties, she has already designed collections with Volcom and Mulberry. Her most recent collaboration is with designer Kurt Geiger, a brand that focuses on shoes, boots, and bags. As if this wasn’t enough, the beauty took part in the 2012 Summer Olympics closing ceremony alongside iconic Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell.
#21. Lisa Bonet and Zoë Kravitz
They have the same gaze and they both rock the smokey eye like they were born for it! Lisa Bonet and Zoe Kravitz are an iconic duo. Lisa is known for her role in the NBC sitcom The Cosby Show, where she plays Denise Huxtable. Zoe however, had her breakthrough role when she played Angel Salvadore in X-men: First class. This was closely followed by her role in the Divergent series based on a dystopian world, and then in Mad Max: Fury Road.
Lisa Bonet actually eloped on her 20th birthday with the American rock singer Lenny Kravitz. Where did they go? No other than Las Vegas. Their daughter Zoe Kravitz came one year later; however, she and Lenny separated soon after in 1993. She was single for a while but in 2005 Lisa began a relationship with Jason Momoa. Yes, the actor that plays Khal Drogo in our favorite HBO fantasy series Game of Thrones. No surprise that Momoa was enchanted by such a glamorous woman!
#20. Goldie Hawn and Kate Hudson
Probably one of our favorite actresses of all time, Kate Hudson, gets her beauty from her glamorous mother Goldie Hawn. Both of them are charismatic, down to earth and amazing actresses. Their portrayals on-screen never fail to leave us rolling on the floor with laughter, or teary-eyed with a box of tissues on the side. Goldie is not only an actress but also a producer and singer. Her talent was evidenced in her nomination for an Academy Award for the film Private Benjamin.
Kate Hudson is simply stunning. Like her mother, she decided to explore other careers beyond acting. Our favorite blonde is also a singer, fashion designer (are we even surprised? She has an incredible style!) and an author. Have you ever heard of a more well-rounded actress? Well, Kate definitely has a lot to thank her mother. Multiple times, she has said her mother is her role model, the woman that has taught her the most and the person who she looks up to. Is there a more beautiful mother-daughter relationship out there?
#19. Jada Pinkett Smith and Willow Smith
Willow Smith had us all shook when she released the famous video Whip My Hair. Well, we all knew that her dad was Will Smith, but maybe not all of us knew that her mom happened to be Jada Pinkett Smith, the actress, singer, songwriter, and businesswoman. However, not everything is sunshine and rainbows in the celebrity world; Willow Smith has revealed to us that being followed around by paparazzi and being constantly scrutinized by the public eye is by far one of the worst parts of her job.
Well, while we can all agree that while having your life under scrutiny by millions of people you don’t even know, being the daughter of two celebrities can certainly have a positive impact on the young singer’s career. Willow became the youngest artist to sign a music label when she did so at the tender age of 10. Who knows? Maybe the constant camera flashing and reporters actually had a lot to do with her rise to fame.
#18. Christie Brinkley and Alexa Ray Joel
Christie and Alexa might not look that similar, but we can all agree that these two radiate beauty. When your mother is a legendary model who doesn’t seem to age (Christie is 65 years old!) and your dad happens to be no other than iconic musician Billy Joel, it’s a little hard to not follow the celebrity path. Alexa Ray Joel stayed close to her parents’ professions by becoming a singer, songwriter, and pianist. But who are we kidding? With those cat eyes, she could easily be a model like her mother was.
We might not know Christie’s formula to not aging, but we do know that she holds a record for three consecutive Sports Illustrated swimsuit covers starting in 1979. Apart from that, she was the face of CoverGirl for 25 years. Yup, 25 years of representing one of America’s most successful cosmetics brand. As if appearing in 500 magazine covers wasn’t enough, Christie also worked as an actress, photographer, writer, designer, and activist for human and animal rights, not to mention an activist for the environment. Talk about a well-rounded person!
#17. Christie Brinkley and Sailor Lee Brinkley Cook
Christie Brinkley is such a favorite that we had to put her twice on our list. However, this time it’s about Christie and Sailor Lee Brinkley Cook, who is the daughter of Peter Cook. Christie and Peter are now divorced but the 12-year marriage did bring the gorgeous Sailor who looks like an exact replica of her mother. The lush blonde hair and the sparkling blue eyes are Christie’s most salient features, which, apparently were copy-pasted into her beautiful daughter.
While Alexa Ray Joel didn’t follow her mother’s modeling career, it seems like her sister did! Sailor Lee became a model also for Sports Illustrated, where she posed in a blue one-piece. The striking similarity between these two gals became even more apparent when they posed together in their bikini-bodies for SI. While some families bond over sharing similar hobbies, others bond over posing in their gorgeous physique for a famous magazine.
#16. Bebe Buell and Liv Tyler
Liv Tyler is the daughter of singer and former fashion model Bebe Buell, and world-famous Steven Tyler, lead singer of Boston-based rock band Aerosmith. Bebe (born Beverly Lorence), shot to fame after several publicized relationships she had with various rock musicians. While she was encountering these artists, she definitely scored with Steven Tyler, with whom she had the beautiful blue-eyed Liv. While her father is known for rock and roll, Liv is known for her soft features that make us all melt.
When the press found out that Liv’s biological father was Steven, the headlines were filled with this new gossip. While she resembles her mother a lot more, when Liv found out that her father was no other than Steven, she reached out and started developing a close relationship with him. Apparently, Bebe didn’t want to reveal the secret when Liv was a child because at the moment Steven was struggling with addiction. Well, we cannot blame Bebe for being a mama bear to her beautiful daughter.
#15. Vanessa Paradis and Lily Rose-Depp
There is something about Lily Rose-Depp’s facial features that catches our eyes. Maybe you thought they were from her dad, Johnny Depp, but you would be surprised to know that those cheekbones are the exact copy of Vanessa Paradis, the French musician, actress, fashion model, singer and songwriter that was in a relationship with Johnny for no less than 14 years! Vanessa became a child star at the age of 14 with her worldwide success of the song “Joe le taxi”.
Just like her mother, Lily Rose-Depp has a fantastic sense of fashion. But beyond fashion, she decided to follow her mother’s path by dedicating herself to acting and modeling. She appeared in Netflix’s short documentary Period. End of Sentence, alongside Priyanka Chopra. The movie talked about how The Pad Project helped women in New Delhi start a business with sanitary pads. Depp also supported Bernie Sanders during the 2016 presidential primaries.
#14. Melanie Griffith and Dakota Johnson
She shot to fame with the trilogy of Fifty Shades in her role as Anastasia Steele. However, fame wasn’t very alien to her at that point because show business runs in her blood. Dakota is the daughter of actors Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith and her debut was actually in the dark comedy film Crazy in Alabama, where she played the on-screen daughter of Melanie’s character. We might have thought that her family pushed Dakota to pursue acting, but you’d be surprised to know that her family pressured her to finish high school before getting into film.
After her success in Fifty Shades, Dakota appeared in Black Mass, A Bigger Splash, and Suspiria, a supernatural horror film where Johnson had to train to learn how to dance. Dakota’s acting talent doesn’t only come from her mother, she also is the granddaughter of actress and former fashion model Tippi Hedren. Some might even say that Dakota was destined to be famous!
#13. Cindy Crawford and Kaia Gerber
Few can resist Cindy Crawford’s stunning looks; a model and actress, she garnered international recognition as a top-class model. While her family has been in the USA for generations, she has French, German and English ancestry. With such a combination of ethnicities, no wonder she looks like a natural goddess. In 2013, she discovered that her bloodline goes back to English nobility and that she descended from Charlemagne. Yes, you read correctly, the emperor that ruled most of Western Europe between 768 and 814 CE.
Cindy’s genes have passed along successfully to the beautiful child, Kaia Gerber, daughter of businessman Randy Gerber. Kaia is a model and an actress and through it all, we’ve seen the mother-daughter relationship grow stronger and stronger as they have posed together for photoshoots. Kaia shot to fame at a young age; she has collaborated with Vogue, Marc Jacobs, Burberry, Alexander Wang, Coach, Chanel, Fendi, Moschino, Versace, and Karl Lagerfeld. Talk about an accomplished model!
#12. Kris Jenner and Kendall Jenner
This list just wouldn’t be complete without one of the most famous models of all time, Kendall Jenner. And along with that name, we instantly think about the whole Kardashian family. But let’s just focus on Kris and Kendall for now. Kris has given birth to a whole Jenner-Kardashian clan, which we are all too familiar with thanks to the reality TV show Keeping up with the Kardashians. While all daughters have made magazine covers and been the subject of gossip, Kendall, the second youngest child was the one with the biggest career success as a runway model.
With Kris being the mastermind behind the scenes, Kendall was encouraged to pursue modeling at a young age. Her success was evident when she was ranked the topmost paid model in 2017 and 2018! She’s also very famous in, you guessed it, Instagram. A movement dubbed the “Instagirl era”, she’s one of the celebrities with the most followers. Girls are dying to keep up with what’s in trend and who’s better to follow than Kendall?
#11. Madonna and Lourdes Leon
Who doesn’t know Madonna? They call her the Queen of Pop since the 1980s and for good reason. She has pushed the boundaries of mainstream music and she has a magnetic aura in all her music videos. Many of her songs reached top charts all over the world, including “Like a Virgin”, “Like a Prayer”, “Frozen”, “4 Minutes” and of course, “Vogue”. She even appeared in films and has earned a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in the movie Evita.
It might take us a second but after looking at these two icons, it is easy to see how Lourdes Leon looks like a younger version of Madonna with dark hair. She actually attended the University of Michigan, where she studied theatre and dance. Lourdes is such an inspiration for young women: she stands up body positivity and has said that every part of the body should be celebrated! She refuses to shave her armpits or to conform with an image stereotype. We need more of this!
#10. Courtney Love and Frances Bean Cobain
These two have undergone some tough times. They have been the subject of gossip over and over within the music world. Frances is the child of Courtney Love and deceased rockstar Kurt Cobain; it doesn’t come as a shock that Frances chose a similar profession. However, while Frances inherited some beautiful genes, the story of her parents isn’t all that beautiful. Courtney and Kurt had a troubled relationship which, ultimately, led to Kurt Cobain’s suicide.
Things seem to have cleared up a bit, as in 2016 mother and daughter collaborated in a Burberry campaign. That’s no surprise given these two clearly have a strong sense of fashion. Frances is a visual artist and model. Like Lourdes Leon from our preceding slide, this young celebrity opted for higher education. She attended Bard College where she studied art. It’s amazing how these young girls manage to balance both fame and academics!
#9. Leticia Jean Cyrus and Miley Cyrus
Either you hate her or you love her, but nobody can deny that Miley Cyrus knows how to build an image and how to stand out from a crowd. You know her from Hannah Montana and you’ve seen her in that polemic music video Wrecking Ball or maybe you have been keeping up to date with her relationship with hunk Liam Hemsworth. While she definitely has her own personality, we can probably trace her interest in film from her dad, Billy Ray Cyrus and her beautiful mom, Leticia (better known as Tish) Jean Cyrus.
While Tish definitely keeps a lower profile, she is often seen next to Miley in photoshoots and in fact, happens to be her co-manager. Tish produced the film The Last Song, where Miley and now husband Liam Hemsworth met for the first time. Tish has appeared in movies where she played herself, these include Miley: The Movement, Cyrus vs Cyrus: Design and Conquer, and Truly Tish.
#8. Demi Moore and Rumer Willis
Demi Moore has been a fan-favorite since the 1990s. She’s an inspiration to the female population for all her strong female leading roles she’s had in the past. Not only is Demi a role model for young girls but she also is a role model for her three daughters, with whom she has had with now ex-husband Bruce Willis, the American actor, producer and singer. Her good looks and fierce personality also attracted Ashton Kutcher, who is 15 years younger. These two actually got married, but after 6 years, they decided to call it quits.
Having a mother like Demi Moore, the three daughters grew up in the spotlight. Rumer Willis, the eldest daughter of the Wills-Moore clan, is an actress and a singer. She actually won season 20 of Dancing with the Starts and she made her debut in Broadway in Chicago, where she played Roxie Hart. Rumer has also become a series regular in the fourth season of the musical drama Empire, which airs on FOX.
#7. Yolanda Hadid and Gigi Hadid
If you follow Kendall Jenner on Instagram, you probably also follow Gigi Hadid. She’s a goddess, there’s no other way to describe her. Her cat-like eyes, her gorgeous physique, and her winning smile all make her another of our favorites. However, these genetics didn’t just come from nowhere, but from Yolanda Hadid, a Dutch-born model, who passed on her good looks to our darling Gigi. Yolanda started modeling during her teenage years and kept going for a further 15 years.
While Gigi might have initially garnered such attention given her relationship with ex-One-Direction singer Zayn Malik, she shot up to fame very fast. Hadid’s modeling career started young, probably a lot younger than you think. She was just two years old when she was discovered by Paul Marciano, who represented Guess clothing. Hadid has modeled for absolutely every high fashion brand you can think of. You name it, Moschino, Fendi, Versace, Chanel, Elie Saab, Miu Miu, and the list goes on.
#6. Yolanda Hadid and Bella Hadid
As if giving birth to Gigi Hadid were not enough, Yolanda blessed us with the presence of another goddess: Bella Hadid. Bella is just as glamorous as Gigi, but she has her own distinct style. Nobody could have guessed that Bella would have caught up so fast with Gigi as she did, but in 2016, Bella was voted as Model of the Year. She made her debut in the New York Fashion Week in 2014, and from then on she walked for Tom Ford, Tommy Hilfiger, Topshop, Moschino, Chanel, Givenchy… yup, she didn’t fall short of the high-end brands.
Bella also appeared in several magazine covers, Vogue, Elle, Grey Magazine, Teen Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, GQ, Pop magazine, Glamour magazine, and others. Perhaps her stronger presence is in Dior, with which she has become an ambassador. She actually starred in a series of videos “Dior Makeup with Bella Hadid”. She didn’t stop there though, she later became the ambassador for Bulgari and the new face of TAG Heuer.
#5. Peggy Lipton and Rashida Jones
Peggy was an actress, model, and singer, winner of a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress for The Mod Squad Television Drama Series. She had a total of five decades of dedications for film, acting and stage career who was super into meditation and yoga. Well…with a mother like that, it’s not hard to believe that her daughter, Rashida Jones, would also become a celebrity. Rashida has acquired world recognition with her roles in comedies Parks and Recreation and The Office.
Rashida not only excelled at acting but also provided backup vocals for the band Maroon 5. She appeared in some of their most famous music videos, including “Tangled”, “Secret”, “Not Coming Home” and “Kiwi”. Beyond acting and singing, she has appeared in commercials for Verizon, has been a spokeswoman for Dove for its Dove Nourishing Oil Care Collection, and has been the first ambassador for Maison Kitsune. No doubt her mother would be so proud of her!
#4. Judy Garland and Liza Minnelli
Liza Minnelli is one of those classical divas we all know and love. She is best known for her performance in Cabaret, which won her an Academy Award. Liza’s mother Judy Garland was an actress, singer, and dancer. She gained international recognition for her dramatic roles and concert stage. This is an iconic duo in entertainment history and both of them left audiences wanting more.
Their aura was so intense that the stage explodes with energy when they were on it. However, each had their own accomplishments. Minelli won several awards, including Academy, Tony, Emmy and Grammy. Judy however, was best known for The Wizard of Oz. Unfortunately, Judy hit a grim end as she struggled with addiction, which ultimately led her to her death at the mere age of 47. May she rest in peace.
#3. Sharon Osbourne and Kelly Osbourne
There’s not much to say for this duo other than they were both blessed with magnetic energy for show business. Sharon’s passion was definitely passed on to her daughter Kelly. We were all drawn to their reality series The Osbournes, which was arguably one of the most unfiltered realities out there! These women know how to entertain an audience and how to do so with glamour.
Both of them are easily recognized by their dyed hair; Sharon opts for a wine-colored style while Kelly, from a younger generation, chooses a lilac tone. Many probably know Sharon from her role as a judge for The X Factor; she’s a media personality, TV host, author, businesswoman and music manager. Yup, she has it all! Kelly, meanwhile, has a similar career in terms of being a television presenter and being on the TV screens; however, she’s also a fashion designer.
#2. Tina Knowles and Beyoncé
Queen B. Who doesn’t love Beyonce? She sure came a long way from being the lead singer in girl group Destiny’s Child. With a voice like that and with dance moves like hers it is no wonder her talent needed to be seen individually! She has won numerous awards and sold millions of records worldwide. She also married Jay-Z, a famous rapper, songwriter and producer. The two make a power couple with three children.
Being one of the best selling artists of all time, a Grammy-Award winning recording artist (she has won 23 Grammys) and being named the top female artist of the 2000s, one might forget that she is the daughter of Tina Knowles, a celebrity fashion designer, and businesswoman. Tina was always interested in the beauty world, whether that was makeup or clothes. She actually became her daughter’s costume designer for her band Destiny’s Child.
#1. Naomi, Ashley and Wynonna Judd
To finish our list, what better than a trio? Naomi Judd, a singer, and songwriter, gave birth to Ashley and Wynonna Judd. Wynonna is known for her country music while Ashley is known for her acting and for being a political activist. Naomi and Wynonna happen to be a team when it comes to their singing careers; together they form the highly successful duo The Judds. They were arguably the most famous mother-daughter country singing duo of all time!
Ashley veered off a bit when it comes to her focus in the celebrity world. Her acting career has spanned for more than two decades and her involvement in global humanitarian action is not to be overlooked! You probably know her from the dystopian trilogy Divergent, where she played the main character’s mother. As for her humanitarian efforts, Ashley focuses on gender equality, women’s rights, and sexual and reproductive health for women. After all she’s been through, she has a very strong stance in terms of respecting a woman’s choice and body.
