#23. Tyra Banks
Tyra Banks started modeling when she was just in high school and went on to have one of the most impressive careers in the industry. She walked the most famous catwalks from the best designers all over the world, and later became an actress and TV host of not only her own talk show but also America's Next Top Model.
So, how is it possible that someone with so much experience in the fashion industry left the house looking like this? She invented the famous posing technique of "smiling with your eyes", but she did her eyes no justice this time. The smokey eyeshadow is not blended and it looks rather smudged, and her lipstick is too bright. She is still more gorgeous than we will ever be, though.
#22. Billy Joe Armstrong
When people think of punk rock band Green Day, the first thing that comes to mind, aside from the awesome music, is the heavy eyeliner all the band members wear. Frontman Billy Joe Armstrong basically never leaves the house without his signature makeup, but that also has its disadvantages because it doesn't always look so good.
Not only is his eyeliner completely smudged all over his face, but also he made the bold decision to underline his eyes with red eyeliner, which only serves to make him look like he hasn't slept in ages. Still we can't imagine him without makeup and most of the time, he looks amazing. Also, have you noticed he hasn't aged since the 1990s?
#21. Kelly Osbourne
Kelly Osbourne has come a long way. Nowadays, she is a fashion expert and loves experimenting with new looks and trends, but it wasn't always like that. In fact, many years ago, Osbourne was notorious for her poor choices in fashion and makeup, and it seemed as though she did her own makeup instead of seeking the help of a professional.
One of her many makeup mishaps occurred at an Audi event in 2012, where she showed up with an orange face. Not only was the foundation the wrong shade, but it also wasn't blended with her neck, which is a common rookie mistake. The baby pink lips certainly didn't help, and the overall look was not flattering at all. And stay tuned, because this is not the last time we'll be talking about her.

Bradley Cooper is, without a doubt, one of the best looking celebrities in the world. He was even awarded the "sexiest man alive" title by People magazine in 2011, so there's not much anyone can say against his looks. However, for the premiere of Valentine's Day he seems to have trusted the wrong makeup artist to help him with his red carpet look.
This makeup artist either forgot or didn't know how to apply makeup on his beard, which made him look like he had two different skin colors. Half of his face is orange and the other half is pale, while his neck also looks extra weird around the beard. Is he still one of the most handsome people alive? Absolutely.
#19. Nicki Minaj
Nicki Minaj made headlines in her early days for her extravagant outfits and crazy looks. Her goal was to get attention and that definitely worked, but sometimes it totally backfired. For example, when she arrived at the American Music Awards nominations in 2011, she turned heads for all the wrong reasons: her terrible makeup.
First of all, her foundation wasn't blended with her face and second, her contour was a trainwreck. Her nose and cheeks were extremely white and all the harsh lines were very clearly visible. Not only that, but the eyelashes were too big for her eyes, and the lip color just didn't match the rest. Also, why did so many celebrities choose that lipstick color?
#18. January Jones
January Jones hasn't aged a day and she always looks elegant, classy, and very feminine. So it was surprising to see her take a risk at the Met Gala. Granted, that gala is the perfect place to go all out when it comes to fashion, and some of the most iconic looks took place there, but Jones just didn't do it right.
While it was refreshing to see her wearing all black with her hair short and a goth vibe, her eyeliner was all over the place. It didn't look symmetrical and was terribly patchy, which didn't flatter her at all. On top of that, her eyebrows were covered with foundation, which hid her naturally gorgeous features. It was a shame, but her beautiful smile still shone through.
#17. Claudia Winkleman
British TV presenter Claudia Winkleman is known for her signature heavy eyeliner and smokey eye coupled with her brunette bangs, but the problem with wearing so much eyeliner is that you must pay attention or else it can get smudged, which is what happened to her at the GQ Men of the Year Awards in 2013.
People were shocked when they saw Winkleman step onto the red carpet looking like she had just been trapped in a tornado. The messy hair, the smudged eyeliner, and the pale lips were all a terrible combination. She luckily laughed it off when she realized and she explained that she didn't have a mirror handy so she could not see what she actually looked like. We've all been there!
#16. Christina Aguilera
Before there was Lady Gaga*, the world had Christina Aguilera to deliver the craziest, boldest looks to any event or red carpet. Many of her looks became iconic and even started trends that the rest of the people were desperate to follow, but the problem with being so creative is that sometimes you get it all wrong.
Ironically, Aguilera chose this look to attend an event hosted by makeup company MAC. She got a little too creative with the color red and got it not only around her eyes, but also on her cheeks and for some reason, on her forehead. She was also wearing a red hot dress, which was all too much. The eyeshadow just made her look tired and was all in all a bad choice.
#15. Snookie & J-Woww
This time we have not one, but two makeup blunders. Snookie and J-Woww gained popularity thanks to Jersey Shore, a reality show that followed them as they got spray tans, went to many parties, and got into many fights. It is understandable that among all the parties, they didn't have much time to check their makeup.
The dark spray tan, coupled with the pale lips, and the sloppy eyeliner, were just all a really bad combination. Now, both Snookie and J-Woww have completely reinvented themselves are are super stylish nowadays. They have their own show about lifetsyle and motherhood, and it is great to see how far they've come.
#14. Kesha
Kesha came into the music scene like a wrecking ball in 2009, and her style was a big part of it. Her whole thing was to look crazy, messy, and unbothered, but as time went by, she got more and more creative with her looks. However, that didn't always work in her favor, such as when she attended a Baby G event in 2012.
People were very confused when they saw her with this look because of how strange it was. It somehow looks upside down! Her golden forehead and the harsh, thick black eyeliner under her eyes gave the Hamburglar a run for his money. To top it off, she chose very bright red blush to accompany her look. Yikes.
#13. Lindsay Lohan
Lindsay Lohan had a pretty hard time in the late 2000s. Her career took a nosedive as she had several run-ins with the law and many personal problems to deal with, so it is understandable that she wasn't looking her best during that time either.
When she showed up to Paris Fashion Week with extremely pale foundation and nude lips, people worried because she looked sickly. She was just fine, and it was just the makeup that was making her look that way. The heavy bronzer and the smokey eyes didn't help either, but luckily, she had a pair of sunglasses with her. Nowadays, Lindsay is doing and looking better than ever, and those days have been left behind.
#12. Taylor Momsen
This one may be a little controversial, because Taylor Momsen's signature look has always been her heavy raccoon eyeliner. Some fans loved it, and some fans hated it but objectively, it was a little too much. When she attended the launch party of Material Girl in 2010, her dark eyeshadow was out of control.
It seemed like, with every appearance, it got thicker and thicker and that day, it peaked. The look would've suited her better at a Halloween party rather than an event in broad daylight. Nowadays, Momsen still retains her goth look but in a much more toned down version and with much more flattering makeup.
#11. Jennifer Lopez
If someone in this world knows how to look good, it's Jennifer Lopez. After all, the woman can sing and dance her life off at 50 years old and look better than most people while doing it. However, nobody is safe from bad makeup decisions; not even JLo herself.
The beautiful singer/actress/dancer attended the American Idol Season 14 party with an incredible outfit and beautiful hair but unfortunately, her makeup was far from that. She went for a white eyeliner look that made her eyes look too small and her face look too pale. Her pale lips also contributed to her looking sickly and it was overall a bad decision. Sometimes, matching your makeup to your outfit works but other times, such as this one, it can ruin everything.
#10. Shannon Bex & Aubrey O'Day
There are always new makeup trends coming and going, and in 2015, everyone was into highlighter. The problem was that, because having that much desired glow was the coolest thing at that time, many people overdid it, and one example of that are singers Shannon Bex and Aubrey O'Day from the ex-girl group Danity Kane.
The two ladies arrived at the 2015 MTV Movie Awards with a very heavy fake tan and way, way too much highlighter that was too bright in contrast with the tan. Maybe it didn't look that bad in person, but with the flashing cameras, the pair looked like wax figures. Maybe their makeup artist did not think of that in advance.
#9. Paz De La Huerta
Actress Paz de la Huerta is known for not being the most stylish person out there, and that is basically where her charm comes from. She always has long, messy, wavy hair, a fake tan, and not much makeup, and she looks totally awesome just like that. However, this time, she took the tan a little too far, and the makeup didn't help at all.
She was unrecognizable as she showed up to HBO's Emmy party in 2011. Not only was her tan too dark, but her contour was even darker and not blended properly. The harsh lines around her face were very harsh, the lipstick was not the right color, and the highlight was all over the place. Luckily, she has since learned from her mistakes and always looks great.
#8. Jodie Marsh
We can't imagine what is like to put your trust in a professional who does a terrible job on you, but Jodie Marsh definitely does. When she posed for a magazine photoshoot in 2013, the makeup artist gave her her best attempt at a smokey eye, which was very mediocre. Needless to say, the photos did not turn out great.
The eyeshadow was not blended at all, the lines were wonky, and it was all too much. On top of that, her eyebrows weren't lined properly, which made her look like an alien. She was not very happy with the result and it is extremely understandable, because the makeup is hiding the real beauty she has. Makeup is supposed to enhance your features, not cover them.
#7. Charlize Theron
Charlize Theron was cast as the pretty woman in most movies, until she finally had the chance to show her excellent acting chops in Monster, a movie for which she had to undergo a total makeover that left her unrecognizable. However, she had to accept her Oscar for Best Actress for her role in that movie, she also didn't look much like herself.
Although it was her big night and all cameras were going to be on her, her makeup artist seemingly didn't get the memo. Her foundation was extremely white, her eyebrows were not lined, and she had red eyeshadow on, which made her look sickly. She still took home the Academy Award and solidified herself as an A-lister, so the night wasn't all bad.
#6. Lady Gaga
Very few people have experimented with their looks as much as Lady Gaga has. She always put attention to every single detail of her hair, makeup, and outfit, and from the moment she appeared in front of the cameras, it was all a performance. Unfortunately, she has had a few fails here and there, and this one in particular was pretty bad.
This was not her fault, but the makeup artist's. Everyone with even the slightest experience in doing makeup knows how to apply powder and how to blend it, but apparently, everyone forgot to tell Gaga that she had powder all over her face. She even had some powder mixed in with her eyeliner, which was not flattering at all.
#5. Leighton Meester
Leighton Meester rose to fame playing the character of Blair Waldorf, a classy, rich, spoiled teenager from New York on Gossip Girl. A big part of her image on the show and in real life was how stylish and feminine she looked, but then one day, she showed up to a red carpet looking more like a circus character.
Meester showed up to an American Eagle Outfitters opening in 2009 with very bright, red lips, coupled with a strange choice in eyeshadow, and foundation that was way too light for her skin. Purple is usually avoided by celebrities because it is a very difficult color to rock, so this was a very bold choice that certainly did not pay off.
#4. Kerli
Estonian singer Kerli certainly turned heads when she showed up to the 2013 Grammys with this extravagant look. She is known for her edgy, eccentric look, so her fans weren't surprised at all to see her like that. However, the whole look seemed more like a Halloween costume than a red carpet outfit.
The biggest flaw of her look was the eyeliner, which was extremely wonky. If you are going to draw something on your face, you better make sure the lines are straight! Her makeup, plus the horns and the wig just weren't a favorite that year, but if her goal was to just get people's attention, she definitely succeeded.
#3. Tamar Braxton
Tamar Braxton rose to fame as an R&B singer in the 1990s and later went on to become one of the hosts of The Real, where she always looks fabulous. Even though the show airs in the daytime, she always goes all out. Her makeup usually looks flawless, but as we know, we all make mistakes.
This is a case similar to a previous one on our list, because it seems as though the makeup artist didn't take into consideration the flashing cameras and the bright lights that would be there at the event. She had way too much powder on and her foundation was too light, so she looked more like a doll than a human.
#2. Sharon Stone
Sharon Stone is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful women on the planet, but even she can't rock this look. Granted, she still looks better than the rest of us, but that gold/green shade of lipstick just makes her look like a zombie. Perhaps, there is no human in this world that can rock that color, because it is just hideous.
When she came on the red carpet of Basic Instincts 2 with this look, people were very confused, because she was almost unrecognizable. The problem wasn't only her lipstick, because her foundation was also way too pale for her skin tone. There was no color left on her, apart from her gorgeous blue eyes. However, this look is nothing compared to our No. 1 spot...

Of course, Kelly Osbourne had to be back on our list. When she was younger, she made many bad choices regarding makeup which she laughs about today. She was trying to find herself, and that took a long time. But her biggest problem was that she did her makeup on her own instead of seeking a professional to help her with it.
Her eyeliner and eyeshadow were way too thick and gave her that Taylor Momsen-meets-raccoon look, while her lipstick went over her lips and onto her cheeks. The whole look was bad and did not bring out her natural beauty, which she now proudly shows. She also has flawless skin and gorgeous eyes, but the bad makeup distracts us from that!
