#20 - Project SUNSHINE Part A
Don´t let the happy name trick you, Project SUNSHINE was one of the darkest conspiracy theories that ENDED UP BEING REAL. Commissioned by the US Atomic Energy Committee, along with the US Air Force, this project had a gruesome goal in mind: Investigate the effects of nuclear radiation on humans.
#19 - Project SUNSHINE Part B
It gets worse as, to get human samples, the people in charge located and utilized body parts of dead children, toddlers and babies, more often than not without the knowledge, let alone consent, of their grieving parents. The logic behind this madness was: > "Younger children typically have higher amounts of strontium in their bones, meaning that their tissues are more susceptible to radiation damage. Thus, they made better test subjects for the project." >
#18 - Project MKULTRA Part A
A much better known conspiracy this time, MKULTRA. Its general premise, which we now know is true, is that the US government had been tampering the drinks of unsuspecting citizens and military personnel, adding psychedelic and hallucinogenic drugs. Their goal? Behavior Modification Programs.
#17 - Project MKULTRA Part B
In other words, the US government was giving mind control techniques a try, using local guinea pigs. The results? Many of the "participants" were left with severe trauma and even brain damage. Several others started acting erratically, often violently, both towards themselves and those around. Many are still recovering even today, and it´s chilling to know just how willing the government was to experiment like this on unwitting test subjects.
#16 - The US Government’s Alcohol Poisoning Part A
We all remember the prohibition era, not from living it personally of course, but from how it inspired the genre and aesthetic when it came to be depicted in media. But the gist of it was that alcohol was prohibited, and of course, many people had to resort to the local speakeasy or other low-key places to get high in spirits. And this is where things get scary, as this REAL conspiracy was about how their drinks had a secret, unwelcome ingredient.
#15 - The US Government’s Alcohol Poisoning Part B
As it happens, the US government was of course aware of what was going on, so they started tainting the alcohol with methanol, an antifreeze, hoping to dissuade drinkers with the disgusting result. However, despite their claims that the dose was non lethal, there´s been reports of over 10.000 deaths during this period, all related to poisoning... Whether it was accidental or on purpose, sadly, the damage is done.
