The Strangest Guinness World Records Ever

Largest Paradise Cocktail

Any avid rap fan can probably guess who holds the world record for the largest gin and juice. It’s Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr., aka Snoop Dog.

Technically, the record is held by multiple people. But the rapper has been linked to the paradise cocktail since his 1993 hit single “Gin and Juice” came out.

Most Body Piercings

Unbroken since 2000, this record is held by Elaine Davison. This Brazilian woman set the record in the United Kingdom, and it seems that most people are not too keen to adorn themselves as much.

She has 462 piercings. A close second is a most-pierced man, with 453 piercings. Most of these piercings are worn on the face, so they’re easy to recognize!

Most Big Mac Burgers Eaten In A Lifetime

Donald Gorske of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, really loves McDonald’s since he holds the record for most Big Macs eaten in his life.

At a whopping 28,788 Big Macs to date, he eats about 14 of the burgers each week. Two meals a day! He might as well just own a McDonald’s restaurant.

Largest Rubber Band Ball

Joel Waul entered the Guinness Book of World Records in November 2008 after using 700,000 rubber bands of all sizes to build the most impressive rubber ball.

His rubber ball is 9,032 pounds and 6 foot 7 inches. He named it “Megatron” for obvious reasons and said he started creating it in April 2004. This monstrosity took him four years to build!

Longest Abdominal Plank Position

One of the most difficult core strength exercises is the plank. It may seem easy until you try holding a push-up position for as long as possible using just your forearms and toes.

Heaviest Onion

Everyone likes onions. They go great with almost any recipe and remind us of that funny Shrek scene. But Tony Glover of Harrogate, North Yorkshire, United Kingdom, saw the biggest purpose to the vegetable.

He landed in the Guinness Book of World Records for growing the heaviest onion ever recorded at 18 pounds, 11.84 ounces. Impressive!

Longest Sustained Note

Everyone remembers Ariana Grande’s cover of Mariah Carey’s song “Emotions” and how she whistled that E7 note perfectly. But as impressive a feat as that was, it can’t compare to Barbra Streisand, who once held a note for 16 seconds in “Dim All The Lights.”

But they have nothing on Alpaslan Durmuş, who currently holds the world record for the longest continuous vocal note: 1 minute and 52 seconds.

Most Expensive Music Single

During the revival of the seven-inch format, it’s no surprise that the most expensive single was sold at an auction for $39,294 to an anonymous bidder in 2009.

The single was a rare seven-inch copy of “Do I Love You (Indeed I Do)” by American Motown singer, songwriter and producer Frank Wilson. He wrote or co-wrote some of the label's biggest hit songs, but this was the song that started his career.

Longest Tightrope Distance

The Guinness record for the longest distance traversed on an unsupported tightrope is held by American Bello Nock. He completed a total of 429 feet.

The feat was accomplished onboard Royal Caribbean’s “Majesty of the Seas” cruise ship in November 2010. It took him 15 minutes, which might not seem much but bear in mind the rope was 33 feet above sea level.

Longest Continuous Chant

Regular chanting of mantras is believed to transform a person's vibrations and energize their chakras. The people at the Hanuman temple in the Dallas suburb of Frisco, Texas, decided to really energize their chakras in order to break the longest chant record.

They chanted for 24 hours, 10 minutes and 8 seconds under the leadership of Hindu spiritual leader Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji.

Most Burpees In One Hour

A squat thrust with an additional stand between repetitions is the farthest thing in anyone’s mind when thinking of holding a record. Despite the funny name, it’s a challenging exercise.

Paddy Doyle of the UK has held the world record for the most burpees in one hour at 1,840 since 1994. No one is more dedicated to burpees than her!

Largest Bikini Photoshoot

Most women wear bikinis at the beach because they allow for more movement. But they are not as popular in China, the country responsible for the facekini. Apparently, they were willing to make an exception in order to get into the Guinness Book of Records.

On a beach in Huludao, Liaoning Province, China, in August 2011, 3,090 girls and women participated in a world record-breaking most extensive bikini photo shoot.

Biggest Condom

AIDS day is an opportunity for people worldwide to unite against HIV, show support for the living and remember those who have died from a related illness. Many celebrities have lent their talent and support, including Bono, Freddie Mercury, Rihanna and more.

But the most creative way to raise awareness includes a creative world record. On December 1, 1994, the world's giant condom (72 feet) was fitted over the obelisk at the Place de la Concorde in Paris.

Heaviest Object Sword-Swallowed

Sword swallowing is a trick dating back to Ancient Greece and Rome. The skill must be learned and practiced as it can be hazardous and lead to bodily injury. But someone decided to try to make it a world record, which is unbelievable.

The man in question is Thomas Blackthorne, who in 2007 earned the world record for sword-swallowing the end of a Dewalt jackhammer. It weighed 83 pounds, 12 ounces, and Blackthorne held the full weight for 3 seconds. The most amazing part is that the jackhammer was switched on!

Largest Human Nativity Scene

Especially during Christmas, it is a Christian tradition to represent the birth of Christ in a nativity scene. Some set up the decor in their houses while others perform a living nativity.

Around 1,254 people turned out in Calne, Wiltshire, United Kingdom, in December 2016 dressed up as Jesus, Mary, Joseph, the biblical Magi and a slew of shepherds and angels. They created the most extensive nativity scene and have held the record since then.

Longest Continuous Note On A Wind Or Brass Instrument

Playing a wind instrument is not easy since all brass instruments produce sound through the vibration of the player’s lips. And holding a record for it is beyond amazing.

Philip Palmer holds the record for the longest sustained note on a wind or brass instrument since November 2906. He exhaled one note through his clarinet for 1 minute and 13.38 seconds.

Largest Structure Built By Toy Timber Logs

America’s national toy is Lincoln Logs. Named after President Abraham Lincoln's fabled childhood cabin, construction toys are a great way to spend some time with the family and break a few records in the meantime.

The feat had an awareness-raising element to it, like other Guinness records. The event was organized in order to raise funds for children with cancer and bring awareness to breast cancer.

Wildest Tornado Damage Path

The typical tornado damage path is about one or two miles, with a width of around 50 yards, but a violently rotating column of air holds a record of its own.

On May 22, 2004, a tornado hit Hallam, Nebraska, causing the widest tornado damage path on record. This high-intensity tornado had a funnel at ground level that stretched as wide as 2.49 miles as it tore through the Lancaster County town of Hallam.

Largest Balloon Sculpture By An Individual

Clown-made balloon animals are a common feature at children-oriented events, but David Baker took it to the next level.

For this record, he used nearly 4,000 balloons to create a giant bat measuring nearly 72 feet wide and 37 feet tall in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Largest Trolley Case

One of the worst parts of traveling is never having enough space in your bag. Whether for taking enough clothes or bringing back enough souvenirs, there is a luggage bag that can solve this problem.

A Shanghai-based luggage manufacturer produced the world's largest piece of rolling luggage in 2006. With 5 feet, 9 inches in height; 3 feet, 9.3 inches in width; and 1 foot, 6.1 inches in depth, it can easily fit a human being!

Most Plastic Surgeries

Celebrities have been sparking some plastic surgery trends lately, and it’s become popular for people to get plastic surgeries done, especially in countries like Korea.

But Cindi Jackson takes it to another level. She is reported by Guinness to have had 47 cosmetic procedures between 1988 and 2005. These operations include eye lifts, liposuction, cheek implants and even semi-permanent makeup, ranking up to $100,000 total.
