Healthy Habits For Your Daily Routine

10,000 Steps Per Day

Research has shown that taking 10000 steps a day can boost your health. The goal can seem unrealistic initially, but it is a great way to motivate yourself to move more.

Start by adding more activity to your day. For example, walking around the house while on the phone, taking the stairs or parking further away from your destination. It all adds up!

Good Posture

When working at a desk, it’s important to make sure that the chair and computer monitor are adjusted to the proper heights to avoid slouching.

The eyes should meet the top of the computer monitor, and the chair should be high enough that the elbows are resting comfortably on the desk. Be mindful of your posture, and remember to fix it if you catch yourself slipping.

Stretching

Taking a couple of minutes in the morning to stretch can be beneficial not only to improve your posture, but also to decrease back pain from sitting in one place for too long.

Stretching gets the blood flowing and helps you feel energized. It can also improve your flexibility.

Eating More Fruits And Vegetables

Evidence suggests that filling at least half of your plate with a variety of vegetables is associated with lower risks of many health conditions. A diet rich in fruits and vegetables can lower the risk of heart disease and stroke, prevent some types of cancer and have a positive effect on blood sugar.

To get the most benefits, add plenty of leafy greens and red or orange vegetables to every meal.

Drinking More Water

Staying hydrated is extremely important. It’s recommended to drink about eight glasses of water a day. But drinking plain water may be boring to some, so one tip is to try and mix it up.

There are many delicious blends that can be helpful to enjoy getting the recommended amount of fluids. Adding fresh lemon, cucumber, or mint to water can help keep the habit and add some benefits. A reusable water bottle can also be a great ally; keep it visible as a reminder to take a sip!
