Pre-Makeup Tips
As any person with rosacea would know, it is essential to clean and moisturize your face with appropriate skin care products. Never rub your skin; treat it gently, and use the right tools in order to avoid irritation.
Before you start applying your makeup, make sure you know the products you’re going to use won’t aggravate your skin. If you’re not sure how your skin will react, you can test it on your neck or your arm to see if your skin reacts to it.
Primer And Foundation
A sheer green-tinted primer is a perfect fit if you wish to correct redness and even out your skin tone. If you get a primer with UVA/UVB protection, you will shield it from exposure that may aggravate rosacea.
An oil-free foundation is your best ally. Remember that it should always match your skin tone as closely as possible. Using a sponge might be too harsh for your skin, so you should try using an antibacterial foundation brush instead.
Concealer And Powder
Concealer should be one shade lighter than your natural skin tone. You should use an antibacterial concealer brush to lightly dot concealer under your eyes. If you want to hide bumps or visible blood vessels, you can dab and blend concealer directly onto each area.
To tone down any look of redness that you might still have, dust a bit of yellow-toned mineral powder. Mineral makeup is often a good choice, as it doesn’t contain ingredients that could potentially irritate your skin.
Eyes
Eyes are always tricky when it comes to finding the perfect makeup, and eyes with symptoms of ocular rosacea are no exception. Therefore, it is essentially important that you treat this area gently.
You should always choose products that have been allergy and ophthalmologist tested. Fragrance-free formulas and mineral powder eye shadows are good choices. If you like to wear mascara, look for one that can be easily removed by rinsing it with warm water. Always avoid rubbing your eyes.
Lips And Blush
If you want to give your lips an extra touch to make them pop, go for neutral shades that match your lip color. Avoid red tones, as they may exacerbate the look of redness in your skin.
Skin with rosacea tends to have a lot of color. So, if you want to add any blush, always remember to go easy on your cheeks. Always choose sheer blush formulated for sensitive skin and apply it with an antibacterial blush.
